Why “Full House”?

A few weeks after the passing of the family’s matriarch, Lisa, the girls were sitting around the living room watching a“Full House” re-run when we realized, “Hey, we look a lot like that family!”–only we didn’t have a laugh track and our family passed gas a lot more than the Tanners. Oh, and technically we were short one uncle. But the parallels were too similar to ignore, and we joked about being “the real Full House” ever since. These are our real life stories, we’ve used the Full House names to protect the innocent.

After ten years of kids growing up and moving out, Danny remarried a charming woman with two children of her own.  Season 2 chronicles a much fuller house and the beautiful life that can follow great tragedy.

If you grab an account at http://www.wordpress.com (very easy), then when you view our blog (or any wordpress blog) there’s an extra toolbar at the top and you’ll see “subscribe.” Thanks for reading! Like I said, we’re working on making this an easier thing.

If my heart strings get pulled any tighter they are going to break! I’ve never personally witnessed something so awe inspiring until now. Just from what I’ve read today (and I’ve read it all; couldn’t stop!!) you have shared an honest and open glimpse into your life as a family without your beautiful Wife, Sister and Mother, Lisa. Sharing your personal experiences and feelings like you have here in this blog, makes me take the time to reflect on my own family—it really makes one think about and appreciate what they have. I want to be more like Danny! Keep it coming! Thank you!

Wow! This is a wonderful blog thank you so very much for sharing and I will continue to follow! I have to tell you as I sat hear reading about Lisa, her name just sounded so familiar. Then I started thinking about a client I had years ago when I use to do nails/hair. I did a little more thinking and realized that my client was your Lisa and she was such a wonderful person. I remember when you two got married and when she got pregnant with your first, that is when I lost touch with her.
My heart goes out to you and your family! I think you are very brave and an amazing father !

    Dear Mr. Tanner,

I was in the Chapel @ Blue Ridge last Friday morning. I witnessed one of the most inspiring displays of courage I have ever seen. I was not aware of these events over the past 19 months. Your girls are indeed blessed to have you for their Dad. I am blessed to have heard this directly from you. My parents went to be with God, 7 weeks apart to the day, 18 years ago. My oldest sister is still in that shower, beating the tiles with her fists against God. I had stopped praying for her. I am praying again and will not stop. Thank you !!!

As a college friend of Lisa’s, I am so touched to see this. I know she is with you in spirit and so proud of how you have made this difficult journey. My stepfather’s first wife died suddenly at 36 in the 1970’s. He had 4 young daughters. He married my mother 8 years later and they have been happily married now for over 25 years. We too were a full house, with 5 of the 7 kids living together for a few years-and only one son–my youngest brother!

Laughter is indeed good medicine, so keep it up!

May God bless you with health and happiness in the days to come.

I don’t think my friends’ husband is there yet, as his pain is still so fresh (she died on Monday) but your blog (yes, I read most of your entries for the last few days) has helped me in my mourning. It also has helped me realize that three girls don’t always need a mother when they have such a wonderful dad (and support system) which my friends’ husband definitely has.

On a light note, you might be interested to know that your blog saved me last night. My son-in-law has started hosting a Tuesday trivia night at a local restaurant/bar. My wife and I and another couple participated last night to show our support. One of the early bonus questions was “Name the four members of the family on the TV series Full House.” From following your blog, I was able to rattle off “Danny, DJ, Stephanie and Michelle,” My team was amazed, but less so when I confessed how I knew the answer. Unfortunately, a later question was, “What was the name of the golden retriever on the TV show Full House?” Since you do not have a goldie in your blog, I was not able to come up with “Comet.” You may wish to consider adding a dog. Keep up the good work!
